Miscellaneous Information
Thomas was born in Bathurst, New Brunswick on 14 May 1919. Both parents were born in Ford’s Mills, New Brunswick and both were deceased by the time of Thomas's enlistment. His father worked as a Scaler. He had two brothers, George and Lloyd Stanley. Thomas went to Bathurst Superior School 1925-1933 (Junior Matric). He worked as a clerk at Dominion Stores in Montreal between 1934-1937 and then moved to Bathurst where he worked on paper machines at Bathurst Power and Paper Mill 1939-1940. The sports he took part in were swimming and hockey. |
Thomas enlisted on 27 January 1941 and after training embarked from Canada on 8 January 1942 for the U.K. He reached 3 PRC on 21 January 1942, 2 (0) AFU on 11 April 1942, 22 OTU 26 May 1942, 11 OTU 8 June 1942, 1651 CU 11 August 1942 and 15 Squadron on 23 September 1942. He was killed less than a month later. |
