| His DFC was promulgated in the London Gazette on 20 April 1943. Citation: "Pilot Officer has always shown great qualities of courage and determination which have enabled him to teach and attack successfully a large variety of objectives. On four occasions this officer's aircraft has sustained damag from the ground defences, but in spite of this he invariably presses home his attacks with coolness and tenacity. Since his last award he has completed numerous sorties which have ncluded two attacks on Berlin". |
| He flew 59 Ops with No. 156 Squadron. He crash landed Lancaster W4853 on return from Hamburg 31 January 1943. Despite the aircraft catching fire, no injuries or fatalities were sustained. |
| CGM Citation: "This Warrant Officer has completed a fine record of operational work, in the course of which he has displayed sustained courage and devotion to duty. His missions include attacks on targets in Germany, Italy and occupied territory, which he has pressed home in the face of much opposition." |
