Miscellaneous Information
Cecil was born on 27 April 1924 in Pembroke, Ontario. His mother died in 1940. He had two brothers, Allen and Thomas one of whom was in the RCAF, and three sisters, Mary, Martha and Kathleen. The schools Cecil attended were Centre Ward, Pembroke 1929-1939 (Entrance) and Stella Continuation 1939-1940 (1st Form complete). His sporting interest was hunting. Cecil worked at Hawkesbury Lumber Co.as caretaker of the depot 1940-1943, and he was an assistant Postmaster and also Assistant Scaler in Rapides Des Joachims in January 1943. After that he was unemployed at home until he enlisted. |
He enlisted 17 February 1943 and after training he embarked from Halifax on 14 December 1943 for the U.K., arriving at 3 RCAF PRC on 22 December 1943, he then went to 82 OTU 1 February 1944, 61 Base 12 May 1944 and then 419 Squadron 31 August 1944. |
