Miscellaneous Information
Harold was born at St. John, New Brunswick on 14 May 1919. His father, a painter, was born in Roxbury, Massachusetts, USA and his mother in St, John’s, Canada. He had brothers Joseph, Edward and Donald and four sisters Kathleen, Constance, Maude and Dorothy. He attended Dudley School, New Brunswick 1927-1935 followed by Roxbury Memorial High 1935-1939. He also spent one month at Continuation High in 1940. Baseball and swimming were the sports he enjoyed most and as a thirteen year old was awarded two Silver cups. These were for swimming a mile in both free style and breast stroke. Harold worked as a Feeder on a printing Press, at a printers in Boston during 1939-1940. |
He enlisted on 15 October 1940 and after training was posted to the U.K. He arrived there at 3PRC on 1 July 1941, then on to 19 OTU 9 July 1941 and was at 58 Squadron on 21 August 1941. Harold sadly lost his life on 8 November 1941. |
