Miscellaneous Information
Gordon was born on 15th February 1921. Prior to enlisting on 15th November 1941 he worked in an insurance company in Dublin. He stood at just under 5’10”. He trained in England and Canada, and was recommended for remustering as a pilot in October 1942. |

Reason for Loss | Hit by heavy flak at position 48.39N, 07.15E (25km south west of Strasbourg) at 22:48hrs. The bomb aimer was hit in the thigh and died of loss of blood. The aircraft released its bomb load and made a safe return to base with Sgt Smart's body aboard. |
