Operation | Fôret du Croc- to attack a flying bomb site. Part of a 551 bomber daylight raid on five V-bomb sites. Four of the sites were clear and bombing was reported to be accurate but the Mimoyecques site was cloud-covered so no results are known. |
Reason for Loss | A bomb from another aircraft hit the starboard fin and rudder while over the aiming point. The pilot was able to regain control and flew back to base but lacked sufficient control of the aircraft to execute a good landing at Faldingworth airfield, Lincolnshire |
