Miscellaneous Information
Greaton was born on 20 March 1920 at Charleston, South Carolina. His father was born in Piedmont and worked as a treasurer PAC. Greyhound, and his mother born in Tennessee. He had a sister Mary Katherine and a brother Thomas who was in the navy. The schools he attended were Claremont Jnr. High, Oakland, 1925-1933 (general grade 8), and Oakland Tech.High 1933-1939. He also went to Merritt Business School, Oakland, 1938-1939 (Business course). His sport interests were track, football and basketball. Greaton worked for Pacific Greyhound Lines, San Francisco as a clerk, 1939-1940 and for Baker, Hamilton & Pacific, San Francisco as a clerk 1940-1941. He then worked as a cannery hand during 1941 for F.M. Bell in Oakland until enlisting on 13 August 1941 (while the United States was still neutral). |
He arrived in the U.K on 5 November 1942 and was at 7 PRC on 28 November 1942. No other movements are shown in his records until his death. |
