Reason for Loss | Seriously injured in the head by a flak burst. The aircraft returned safely to base and he was immediately taken to York Military Hospital and then transferred to a specialist head injuries unit at Sheffield. En route his condition deteriorated so the ambulance diverted to Doncaster Royal Infirmary where, sadly, he died of his injuries. |
