Joseph was born on 7 April 1922 at Montreal, Quebec. His father was born in Montreal and was a contractor and his mother was born in Bedford, Quebec. He had at least two brothers and two sisters. The schools he attended were Ecole N.D.G., Montreal 1929-1938 (primary). Business College, Montreal 1938-1939, six months commercial. He gained High School Entrance and Junior Matric.(Notre-Dame-De-Grace). Some of the sports he enjoyed were hunting, fishing and horse riding and his hobby was model aeroplanes. He had worked at various jobs on Bell Boy (a type of boat) construction during 1939-1941 and was a furniture polisher for Canadian Marconi Company in 1942. |
Joseph enlisted on 25 August 1942 and after training embarked for the U.K. on 4 May 1943, arriving at 3PRC on 12 May 1943. He was then at 23 OTU 18 May 1943, 1664 CU 14 August 1943 and then 434 Squadron on 10 September 1943. He sadly lost his life only shortly afterwards on 27 September 1943. |
