Miscellaneous Information
Henry was born on 13 October 1914 at Vancouver British Columbia. His father worked in farming. He attended Pit Meadow public School 1921-1928, High school 1928-1930 and then Haney High School 1930-1931. Between 1931-1935 he worked on his father’s farm. Henry worked for Canadian Western Lumber Company as a Millwright’s helper and carpenter. He also spent four years working at the YMCA. His main sport interest was tennis and he enjoyed hiking and deer and duck hunting. |
He enlisted on 4 June 1940 and after training embarked from Canada for the U.K. on 28 February 1941. Arriving at 3PRC on 2 March 1941, he was then at 20 OTU on 14 March 1941 and 57 Squadron on 12 June 1941. Sadly Henry was to lose his life the following month on 16 July 1941. |
