Frank was born on 4 January 1920 at Homewood, Manitoba. His father was born in London, England and was a farmer and his mother was born in Homewood. He had a brother, J/85903 P/O Charles Anthony Roberts, born 17 December 1917, who was an air gunner with 83 Squadron and he too lost his life on 13 August 1944 (enlisted 9 September 1941). See https://losses.internationalbcc.co.uk/loss/119892/. The school Frank attended was Garnett 1926-1937. Frank worked on a stock farm with his father for four years. His hobby was shooting and sports were hockey, swimming and skating. |
He enlisted on 21 July 1941 and after training was posted to the U.K. arriving at 3PRC on 6 November 1942. He then continued to 7 AGS 22 December 1942, 1659 CU 10 March 1943, and 405 Squadron 29 March 1943. Sadly just days later, Frank was to lose his life on 7 April 1943. |
