Miscellaneous Information
Murray was born on 25 July 1919 at Toronto, Ontario. His father was born at Montreal and his mother at Buffalo, New York. Murray went to the Norway Public school 1925-1931, and Danforth Technical school 1932-1933. He then went to the Malvern Collegiate Institute 1933-1938 and Shaw’s Beaches 1939-1940 where he studied stenography and gained his shorthand diploma (all in Toronto area). Murray worked for McColl-Frontenac Oil Company between May 1940-April 1941 where he was a stenographer and worked on the switchboard. His sport interests were baseball, skiing and swimming. |
He enlisted on 14 January 1942 and, after training, embarked from Canada on 11 December 1942. He arrived in the U.K. at 3 PRC on 19 December 1942, 26 OTU on 2 February 1943, and 115 Squadron on 29 May 1943. Murray sadly lost his life from 115 Squadron on 18 November 1943. |

Berlin was completely cloud-covered and the local report shows that bombs fell throughout the city. Four industrial premises were destroyed and 28 damaged. 131 people killed on the ground and 391 injured. |
