Miscellaneous Information
Alan was born at Keswick, Ontario on 19 July 1923. His father, a painter and decorator, was born at Graz, Austria and his mother in Bournemouth, England. He had two sisters Doris and Constance. The schools he attended were Keswick Public, Newmarket High School 1937-1939, and Jarvis Collegiate 1939-1941 (Matric). The sports he enjoyed were gymnastics, swimming, hockey and basketball. Alan worked as a Bank Clerk at the Royal Bank of Canada from 1941 until enlistment. |
Alen enlisted on 3 February 1942 at Toronto. After training he was posted to the U.K. and embarked from New York on 5 January 1943, arriving at 3PRC on 13 January 1943. He then continued to 22 OTU 9 March 1943, 420 Squadron 23 June 1943 and 405 Squadron 23 February. Sadly, Alan was to lose his life from 405 Squadron on 16 June 1944. |
