Miscellaneous Information
Norman was born on 29 June 1920 in Aberdeen, Scotland. Both parents were born in Aberdeen and his father worked as a Millwright. He had two sisters, Doreen and Norma Jean. He attended A.M.Cunningham School, Hamilton, 1935. (General) Hamilton Technical Institute 1935-1937 (General) and High School of Commerce 1937-1939 (Business course). His sport interests were rugby, baseball, hockey, tumbling, high bar and trapeze. His hobby was building model aeroplanes. Norman worked for the Steel Company of Canada 1937-1939 as a fitter and rigger and then for Mr. Morris Signs, in Commercial Art during 1939. |
He enlisted on 10 February 1941 and after training embarked from Canada on 3 November 1941. After arriving at 3 PRC on 14 November 1941 he went to 10 OTU on 3 March 1942, 23 OTU on 17 March 1942 and was at 35 Squadron on 18 June 1942. Norman lost his life five weeks later. |
