Miscellaneous Information
James was born on 30 September 1915 at London, Ontario. His father was born at London and was a church caretaker and his mother, deceased, was born in Parkhill, Ontario. He went to St. Martin’s Separate School in London, Ontario 1923- 1930, and then to London South Collegiate between 1930-1932. The sports he enjoyed were golf, tennis, badminton and baseball. James spent two years with Hudson Motors in charge of stock and planning department records and then went into interior decorating for another two years between 1937-1939 in Detroit. He worked as a waiter in the Beverage Room of both the Queen’s Hotel and then the Grigg Hotel 1939-1941 (Toronto). |
He enlisted on 3 February 1941 and after training James embarked from Canada on 2 May 1942, arriving 3PRC on 13 May. He was at 405 Squadron on 13 June 1942 and then sadly lost his life on 1 October 1942. |
