Miscellaneous Information
The founder of the Bentley Drivers’ Club. Keston (he was known by his last forename) had a penchant for racing classic Bentleys of the type built before the company was acquired by Rolls Royce in the aftermath of the great depression. He intended to start a motor club for like-minded Bentley enthusiasts and to that end he went round the car park at a 1936 Brooklands race meeting, attaching a card to the windscreens of all the Bentleys he could find. Thus the Bentley Drivers’ Club was founded and was an immediate success. Keston was a professional photographer and by 1939 his business had taken him to New York. On the outbreak of war, he returned to England, where he joined the RAF Volunteer Reserve and became a pilot. The BDC was reformed after the war and has gone from strength to strength. IBCC were proud to host a BDC meeting in the summer of 2018. |
