Halifax Mk.lI W7651 DY-M, RAF 102 (Ceylon) Sqn. In de nacht van 16 op 17 Juni 1942 voerden 106 bommenwer-pers een aanval uit op Essen. De Halifax was opgestegen om 23:04 ur van vliegbasis RAF Topcliffe in Engeland. De schade in Essen als gevolg van het bombardement was zeer beperkt. Op de terugweg werd de Halifax aangevallen door een Duitse Messerschmitt Bf 110 nachtiager
Translation "Halifax MklI W7651 DY-M, RAF 102 (Ceylon) Sqn. In the night of June 16th and 17th, 1942, 106 bombers carried out a raid on Essen. The Halifax had taken off at 23:04 hrs from airbase RAF Topcliffe. The damage to Essen caused by the raid was minimal. On the flight back the Halifax was attacked by a German Messerschmitt Bf 110 nightfighter" |
