| Donald was born on 29 December 1917 at Edmonton, Alberta. His father (who was deceased by the time of Donald's enlistment) was born at Harrisburg, Illinois, USA, and his mother at Hillsboro, Ohio, USA. His mother had remarried John Alexander Scott. He had a brother, Sturgeon Kenneth, and sisters Elois Lorraine, Margaret Francis and Dona Marie. He attended Big Valley High School 1925-1932, and again 1932-1938. He also attended Edmonton Normal School 1938-1939. For sport he enjoyed basketball, soccer, lawn tennis and hockey. Donald was a teacher at Westview School In the Killam school Division of Alberta from 1939 onwards. |
| He enlisted on 12 September 1940. After training, he was posted to the U.K. and embarked from Canada on 18 June 1941, arriving at 3 PRC on 17 July. He was then at 19 OTU on 20 July and then 77 Squadron on 20 September 1941. Sadly Donald was then to lose his life on 27 December 1941. |
