Miscellaneous Information
Earl was born at Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on 29 August 1922. Both parents were born in Norway, his father in Trondheim, Norway and had worked as a Carpenter and his mother was born in Svelvik, Norway. His father was deceased by the time of Earl's enlistment. He went to the King George school 1928-1936 and then Central Collegiate, 1936-1938- both in Moose Jaw. The sports he enjoyed were golf, hockey, baseball and basketball and woodwork was his hobby. Earl worked as a clerk for two years 1938-1940 in Hockelaga, and was then a labourer 1940-41 until enlisting on 29 August 1941 at Regina, Saskatchewan. |
After training he embarked from Canada on 28 October 1942 and arrived in the U.K. at 3 RCAF(PRC) on 6 November 1942. He then continued to 11(P) AFU 17 November 1942, 23 OTU 19 January 1943 and 420 Squadron 14 April 1943. Less than two weeks later, on 27 April 1943, Earl sadly lost his life. |
