Miscellaneous Information
Harold was born on 22 December 1918 at North Bay, Ontario. His father, who was deceased by the time of Harold's enlistment, was born at New Lowell, Ontario and had been a Steam and Tugboat captain. His mother was born at Chalk River, Ontario. He attended Cache Bay Public School, Ontario and Sturgeon Falls High school, 1932-1937. The sports Harold took part in were hockey, rugby and softball and he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Harold worked for Joe Jackson, farming, for three summers and then at Jackson’s Service Station 1938-1940. |
He then enlisted on 17 February 1941 and after training was posted to the U.K. Harold embarked from Canada on 9 February 1942, then continued to 3 PRC 20 February 1942, then 22 OTU 12 May 1942 and 7 Squadron 22 December 1942. Sadly Harold was to lose his life on 11 April 1943. |
