Operation | Aulnoye- to bomb a railway junction. Part of a 253 aircraft raid on railway junctions at both Aulnoye and Revigny. Both targets were hit and the tracks to the front line were severed. Two losses on the Aulnoye raid but the Revigny part of the force was engaged by night-fighter and 24 Lancasters were lost (11.5% in all). 617 Sqn was particularly badly affected with 5 of its 13 aircraft lost. |
