Edward was born on 26 October 1918 at Keen, New Hampshire, USA. His father, born Providence, Rhode Isaland, was a granite craftsman and his mother, deceased, was born at Redstone, New Hampshire. He had a brother Daniel Francis. He attended the Public Grammar School 1926-1934 and the Kennett High School, Conway, North Hampshire, 1934-1938 (Senior Matric). Edward also went to Colby University where he gained a degree in Hotel Management. His hobby was being a ski instructor and also a hunting guide he also enjoyed coin collecting. He worked for himself as a chauffeur 1934-1936 and then went to work as a Chauffeur and bell boy at Eastern Slope Inn, N. Conway, 1936-1939 followed by a mechanic’s helper, 1939-1940 at Maine Central Railroad, at Waterville, Maine. |
Edward enlisted on 3 December 1940 and after training, embarked from Canada and arrived at 3PRC on 13 September 1941, going to 19 OTU on 14 October 1941 and then 419 Squadron on 30 April 1942. It was three months later on 29 July 1942 that Edward sadly lost his life. |
