Miscellaneous Information
| Mike was born on 14 January 1922 in Lithuania. His father, a labourer (sand blaster) was born in Lithuania as was his mother. He had two sisters Anne and Stephanie. They all lived at Foch Avenue, in Verdun. He went to Sarsfield School, Montreal 1931-1935 followed by Sarsfield High 1935-1936 (2nd High). The sports he enjoyed were baseball, basketball, skiing and swimming. Mike worked at Clover Leaf Lunch in Montreal as a short order cook between 1937-1939. He was then working as a Riveter at Canada Car and Foundry between 1939 and 1942, until he enlisted. |
| After enlisting on 11 September 1942 and completing his initial training, he embarked for the U.K. from Halifax on 23 June 1943. After arriving at 3 PRC on 2 July 1943 he went to 22 OTU 7 July 1943, 1659 CU on 15 October 1943 and 419 Squadron on 6 December 1943. Sadly, the following year on 26 February 1944, Mike was to lose his life. |
