Miscellaneous Information
Came from the town of Tamines, Belgium. On leaving school he served in the Belgian Merchant Navy. In July 1941 he arrived in England and lived in Liverpool whilst he continued to serve on Belgian ships, operating on behalf of the Allies. In March 1943 René volunteered for the Belgian Section of SOE where he was granted the rank of Sgt. in the Belgian Army, becoming a Wireless Operator with the codename Lucius. |
