Miscellaneous Information
ORB extract: Boston aircraft of 226 Squadron landed. In avoiding a Defiant aircraft the pilot of the Boston was forced to swing his aircraft to port and as a result had insufficient landing space and crashed outside Battle Headquarters. F/Lt. O.G.E. McWILLIAM one of the crew was badly injured by enemy action prior to the landing. Despite the expeditious manner in which he was removed from the aircraft and conveyed to hospital, he died before blood transfusion could be effected at 1220 hours. |
