Miscellaneous Information
Lloyd was born at Morden, Manitoba on 23 March 1924. His father was a farmer, born at Darlingford, Manitoba and his mother was born in Norfolk, England. He had brothers Bob and Mervyn and at least one sister Ina. He went to Lorne school in Darlingford, 1930-1939, and the sports he enjoyed were hockey, baseball and football. Between 1939-1942 Lloyd worked for his father, farming and then enlisted on 12 January 1943. |
After enlisting and training Lloyd was posted to the U.K. and embarked from Canada on 5 March 1944. He arrived at 3(RCAF) PRC on 15 March 1944 and then onwards to 22 OTU on 4 April 1944, 61 Base 21 June 1944, and then 415 Squadron on 21 July 1944. Sadly, just over a week later on 29 July, Lloyd was to lose his life. |

Operation | Hamburg. 307 aircraft. German night-fighters appeared on the return leg leading to 22 losses (7.2%). This was the first raid on Hamburg for a year and was not well concentrated. The Germans were unable to determine the aiming point from the bombing results. Most of the bombs fell on areas devastated during 1943. |
