Reason for Loss | Damaged by flak, the intercom was knocked out and some of the crew bailed out. Sgt Gilder washed ashore and is buried in France, W/O McClelland has no known grave. P/O Mann managed to fly the crippled aircraft to Essex, aided by the gunners, and they were all decorated for their actions. The remaining crew were safe. |
