Miscellaneous Information
Alan was born on 11 June 1922 at Los Angeles, USA. His father, a business executive, was born at Toronto as was his mother. He had two sisters Ruth and Constance and a brother, Albert John, RCAF overseas, R/225252. The schools Alan attended were Bradford school and George Innes school (1927-1936 General course) and then Montclair High, 1937-1940 (Academic sciences)- Junior Matric equivalent. He was the Editor in chief of the High School year book. His sport interests were basketball, baseball and hiking and his hobbies meteorology, astronomy and making model aeroplane designs. He worked as an assistant church school superintendent between 1938-1940 at St James Church, Montclair. |
Alan enlisted on 21 November 1940 and was embarking from Canada to the U.K. on 13 December 1941. He arrived at 3PRC 26 December 1941, 1 AAS 7 March 1942, 7 AGS 29 April 1942, and 107 Squadron 19 May 1942. This young man very sadly died the day before his 20th birthday. |
Many sources incorrectly say this crew was aboard AL284 when in fact that aircraft was lost on 10 November 1942, also on the strength of 107 Squadron. |
