Miscellaneous Information
Donald was born on 24 August 1917 in Badjeros, Ontario, Grey County. Both parents were born in Grey County and his father was a farmer. The schools he attended were: Owen Sound U.S.S #2. 1925-1930 and Markdale High 1930-1935. Donald worked for Arthur Crawley & Co. Chartered Accountants as an Audit Clerk and Accountant 1935-1937 and for Falconbridge Nickel Mines as a miner 1937-1940. He enjoyed playing softball, hockey and badminton and his hobby was hunting. |
Donald enlisted on 12 August 1940 and after training, embarked for the U.K. on 15 August 1941. He arrived at 3 PRC 15 September 1941, 12 OTU 16 December 1941 and 419 Squadron on 28 April 1942. |
