Operation | Leipzig. 358 Lancasters, 16 Lost (4.5%). Weather conditions were poor and bombing was very scattered. No local report is available but it is unlikely that significant damage was caused. |
Reason for Loss | Shot down by a night-fighter and crashed at Oudleusen, ENE of Zwolle, Holland. The aircraft burst into flames and Sgt F W Lashford, the Flight Engineer was able to bale out at a very low level |
