Operation | Ludwigshafen- to bomb two I G Farben chemical plants. 389 aircraft, 1 lost (which fell in France with the loss of one crew member). Bombing was accurate at both sites with an estimated 500 tons of high-explosives and 10000 incendiaries having fallen within the premises. The plant was put out of action due to complete power loss. Several other local firms were badly damaged. Local housing sustained limited damaged and, due to good air-raid shelters, only 5 people were killed. |
Reason for Loss | Hit by American anti-aircraft fire at 9000' and thought to have come down at Courcelles sur Nied, France |
