Miscellaneous Information
Lloyd was born at Winnipeg, Manitoba on 13 October 1919. His father was born at Winnipeg and was the technical manager of Amalgamated Electric Company and his mother (deceased) was born at Rhode Island , New York, USA. He has a step mother named Lydia Madeleine. He had a brother William Walter and three married sisters: Pearl Burrows, Lily Marley and Ruth Chapman, all living in Toronto. Lloyd attended four schools (unnamed on his enlistment papers) between 1925-1933, then Bedford Park P.S. 1934-1935 (entrance). This was followed by Ridley College, 1935-1939. The sports he participated in were football, handball, cricket, basketball and hockey. He worked at National Steel Car Co. in Toronto as an aircraft inspector 1939-1940 and then at Ottawa Car and Aircraft 1940-1941, also as an inspector. |
Lloyd enlisted on 31 December 1941 and after training was posted to the U.K. He embarked from Halifax on 22 October 1943, arriving at 3(RCAF) PRC on 31 October 1943. He then went on to 5 AOS 20 November 1943, 2(0)AFU 20 December 1943, 12 OTU 22 February 1944, and 199 Squadron on 27 July 1944. Sadly, Lloyd was to lose his life on 16 September 1944. |
