Anthony was born at Chicago, Illinois, USA on 27 September 1916. His father was a riveter machinist born in Split, Yugoslavia, and his mother was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He had a brother John Theodore and sisters Leona Therese, and Gloria Marie. A brother Nicholas died in 1929 aged 3 years. The schools he attended were Henry Clay, Chicago 1920-1929, Bowen High 1932 - 1935 (4 years Science), Greer Aero College 1930-1932 (aeronautical engineering), Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois, 1939-1940 (civil engineering). All in Chicago/Evanston, Illinois. He spent a year working as an office clerk, one year as a bus mechanic and eight months as a riveter and welder. |
He enlisted on 8 December 1941 and after training embarked from Canada on 30 June 1943 for the U.K.. He arrived at 3 PRC on 8 July 1943, 1(0) AFU 27 July 1943, 31 Base 25 February 1944 and 115 Squadron on 25 May 1944. Anthony was to lose his life on 30 August 1944. |
