Miscellaneous Information
Ronald was born on 14 September 1917 at Carlyle, Saskatchewan. His father was born at Peterborough, Ontario and his mother in Carberry, Manitoba. No actual schools were shown in his enlistment records but he reached grade X1 and spent two years at the university of Saskatchewan studying engineering and worked four summers in the surveying department of the Highways department on Saskatchewan. His sport interests were golf, tennis, hockey and swimming. During 1940 he worked as a clerk in a store for a few weeks. |
Ronald enlisted at Winnipeg on 7 February 1941 and after training was posted to the U.K. He embarked from Canada arriving at 3 PRC on 20 February 1942 he was then at 2 AFU on 8 April 1942, 22 AFU on 12 May 1942 and 419 Squadron on 28 July 1942. On 15 September 1942 Ronald sadly lost his life in an aircraft accident. |
