Miscellaneous Information
Patrick was born on 5 October 1920 at Glasgow, Scotland. His father was born in Donegal, Ireland and he worked as a Deck Hand for CNR Car Ferry. His mother was born at Strabane, Ireland. He had a brother Michael J. (Junior) and a married sister Sarah. He went to St. Joseph School in Windsor, Ontario 1926-1934 and then St. Joseph Vocational 1934-1938. Patrick played hockey and enjoyed swimming. For work he carried out odd jobs on a car lot between 1938-1939, and then as a waiter at the Crystal Tower Restaurant 1939-1940, also in Windsor. Finally he worked as a Truck driver and also a Packing Clerk for A.H Boulton 1940-1941. He enlisted on 6 November 1941. |
He is next shown as going from 150 OTU [sic] to 22 OTU on 27 May 1943, 1664 CU 8 August 1943, and finally at 427 Squadron on 5 September 1943. Sadly he then lost his life on 18 November 1943. |

Operation | Mannheim. 395 aircraft, 23 losses (5.8%). This was one of the larger diversionary raids and accounts for the high losses. By comparison, the main raid (On Berlin) registered 2.0% losses. There was cloud cover over the target and bombing was scattered as a result. Most of the damage fell to the north of the town, where the Daimler Benz car plant suffered a 90% loss in production as a result. 21 deaths on the ground and 7500 people were bombed out. |
