Miscellaneous Information
Born on 19 November 1922 in Lemsford, Saskatchewan. His father was a Danish farmer and his mother was born in Stillwater, Minnesota, USA. He had two brothers, Gordon and Herluf and three sisters, Daisy, Sylvia and Helen. Stanley went to school in Saskatchewan. Public School 1929-1937 and then 1937-1940, he did his High School Entrance and Junior Matric, completing grade eleven. He worked on his father’s farm from 1940 onwards until enlisting on 3 February 1942 in Regina. |
Stanley embarked from Canada on 11 December 1942 after his early training, arriving at 3PRC on 19 December 1942. He was at 7 AGS on 17 February 1943, 1659 CU on 10 March 1943 and 408 Squadron on 8 April 1943. He was killed just over a week later. |
He liked softball, skating and swimming. |

Operation | Pilsen- Skoda armaments factory. 327 aircraft, 36 loses (11.0%). The main force was told to locate the Skoda factory visually and only to use PFF marking as a general guide. A large asylum building some 7 miles away was mistaken for the target. The Skoda factory was not hit at all. |
