Miscellaneous Information
William was born at Trail, British Columbia on 13 May 1922. His father was born at Dublin,and was a shift foreman and his mother was born at Trail. The schools he attended were at Copper Cliff: Public school 1929-1936 followed by High school 1936-1939. The sports he enjoyed were badminton, lacrosse, swimming and track events and his hobbies were rifle target shooting and hunting. As he was still a student he had no occupation. He enlisted on 6 January 1941 at North Bay, Ontario. |
After training William embarked for the U.K. on 13 December 1941 arriving at 3PRC on 26 December, he then went to 1 S.S. 20 January 1942, 3 AOS, 17 May 1942, 14 OTU 7 July 1942, 138 Sqn 30 September 1942, 419 Sqn 26 October 1942 and reached 405 Squadron on 21 February 1943. William sadly lost his life on 5 April 1943 at the age of only twenty. |
