Jack was born at Saskatoon, on 29 January 1922. His father was born at Dog Creek Manitoba and shown as a Traveller (deceased, 1937). His mother was born in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. The schools he attended were St. John’s College, 1930-1938 and Kelvin School. 1938-1940, both in Winnipeg. The sports he joined in were rugby, hockey and boxing. Jack is shown as working in Wholesale tobacco at Grays Wholesale in Winnipeg from 1940 until enlisting on 12 July 1941. His mother is shown as having worked in the Canadian Women’s Army in Ottawa. |
After training he was posted to the U.K. and embarked from Canada on 30 April 1942 arriving at 3 PRC on 13 May. He then continued to 1 (0) AFU on 26 June 1942, 23 OTU 28 July 1942, 1658 Conv, Flt. 7 October 1942, and 105 Squadron on 21 October 1942. |
