Operation | Laon- to bomb railway yards. Part of a 221 strong raid on Laon and Rheims. Four aircraft Lost on each part of the raid (3.6%). Both targets were successfully hit. |
Reason for Loss | Badly shot about by a night-fighter. On return, while preparing to land, the pilot is thought to have unfeathered the damaged port inner engine causing the propeller to fly off, strike the cockpit and kill him instantly. Out of control the aircraft crashed at Hotham, WSW of Beverley, Yorkshire |
