Miscellaneous Information
Leonard was born in St John, New Brunswick on 26 March 1918. His father was born in Hampton, New Brunswick and worked as an Insurance Agent; his mother was born in St. John. They lived in Elliott Row, St. John. He attended King George School, St John 1924-1932 (Entrance) and St.John High, 1932-1936 (Junior Matric). Leonard but played softball, football, tennis and enjoyed swimming. From 1936 onwards he worked as a clerk for Barker’s Grocery and then enlisted on 13 September 1940. |
After training, he embarked from Canada on 19 June 1941 and arrived in the U.K. at 3 PRC on 1 July 1941, then going on through 19 OTU 9 July 1941, 51 Sqn.27 August 1941, and 405 Squadron 21 March 1942. |
