Born 4 October 1917. He resided at 19, Scots Lane and was employed at the Standard Motor Co. Ltd until enlisting in 1939. Jack’s brother Private Victor Oliver Hickingbotham was also lost during the war, with the 1st Battalion, Essex Regiment on 13 September 1945 when he drowned in an accident. Lily paid for a plaque dedicated to her sons in the War Memorial Park. |
All the crew were from Coventry and known as the Blitz Boys. |
