Reason for Loss | Aircraft shot down by night fighter flown by Hptm. Heinz-Horst Hissbach of 5./NJG2 in the Etrepagny area at altitude 2,000m at 00:38. Crashed 2km N of Rosay-sur-Lieure, 9km N of Ecouis. All of the crew were killed except F/O Hemmens who was taken in the by the Resistance and spent some weeks hidden in a hen house before he was led away by somebody posing as a Resistance fighter and handed to the Gestapo in Paris.
