Miscellaneous Information
William was born at Nobel, Ontario on 18 March 1919. Both parents were born in Ontario, his father, an engineer, at Coldwater and his mother at Parry Sound. He had two brothers Reginald Godfrey and Warren Henry. Warren was in the RCAF overseas - service number R/163408. The schools he attended were Nobel Consolidated, 1926-1935, Parry Sound High 1936-1937 and then Scollard Hall , 1937-1940. For sport William enjoyed hockey, rugby and also swimming and his hobby was music. William had worked for a short while at Canadian Industries between July-September 1938 and later became a welder at Defence Industries 1940-1941 before enlisting on 4 September 1941. |
After enlisting and initial training, William was posted overseas to the U.K. where he arrived at 3PRC on 30 July 1942. He then went to 7 AGS on 1 September 1942, 102 Conv.Flt. 22 September 1942 and 102 Squadron 13 November 1942. Sadly, a few short weeks later, William was to lose his life on 7 December 1942. |
