Miscellaneous Information
John was born at Toronto on 27 January 1920. Both parents were born in Wales; his mother in Cardiff. His father worked in the building trade as a plasterer. John attended Burnhamthorpe School, 1927-1935 (Public ) and Cooksville Continuation 1935-1937 (High School Entrance). His sporting interests were hockey, baseball, lacrosse and skating. John worked for his father in Cooksville between 1937-1940 in the building trade and then jobbing for R.H.Jamieson. |
On 26 December 1940 he enlisted and after training embarked for the U.K. where he arrived at 3PRC on 14 November 1941. He was at 1 SS on 9 December 194l, 12 OTU 17 March 1942, and 9 Squadron on 12 June 1942. Sadly John was to lose his life on 1 August 1942. |
