Miscellaneous Information
George was born on 7 July 1917 at Peterborough, Ontario. His father was born in Peterborough, and was retired. His mother was also born in Peterborough, and deceased by the time of Georg'es enlistment. He had a brother Edward Hurdon and a sister Phyllis. Francis attended Queen Alexandra Public School 1924-1930 (General Course) followed by Peterborough Collegiate Institute 1931-1937 (Academic Junior Matric). His sport interests were swimming, skiing, baseball and hockey. He worked at Canadian General Electrics, as a Production clerk 1937-1940 and at De Laval Co. Peterborough, as a Mechanic 1940-1941. |
He enlisted on 16 June 1941 and after training he arrived at 3PRC on 9 October 1942. He then went to 22 OTU on 4 November 1942 before arriving at 420 Squadron on 25 February 1943. It was from here, shortly afterwards, that George was to lose his life on 14 March 1943 |
Sgt. Hall’s wife who resided at Lauder Ave, Toronto joined the Women’s Division of the RCAF as soon as she received word her husband was missing and was stationed at Rockliffe. |
