Miscellaneous Information
Albert was born on 24 December 1924 at Malcass, British Columbia. His father was born in London, England and his mother in Amsterdam, Holland. He had a sister Patricia. He attended East Trail Public school, 1930-1936. His parents had divorced in 1937, whereabouts unknown. The sports he enjoyed were football and softball. Albert was at C M &S apprentice school where he was a foreman of a plumber’s shop from 1941-1943. |
He enlisted on 27 January 1943 and after training was posted to the UK. He embarked from Canada on 1 November 1943 and arrived at 3PRC on 10 November. He then continued to 82 OTU on 21 December 1943, 61 Base 22 April, 1944 and 427 Squadron on 29 May 1944. Sadly, Albert was to lose his life on 13 June 1944 aged only nineteen years. |

Operation | Arras- to attack lines of communication. Part of a 671 aircraft force to further hamper lines of communications leading to the Normandy area. Cambrai and Caen attacks were scattered but Amiens, Arras and Poitiers were accurate. 23 aircraft were Lost (3.4%) including that of Charles Mynarski VC, the subject of the Canadian Lancaster 'Vera'. |
