Miscellaneous Information
Gordon was born on 21 November 1911 in Toronto. His father was a Stock Broker, born in Coburg, Ontario and his mother born in Toronto. He had a sister Helen and a brother Douglas M. who was overseas in the Army Service Tank Brigade. Gordon went to Havergal Prep School 1919-1922, U.T.S 1922-1930 (Jnr.and Snr Matric.) and the University of Toronto 1930-1935 B.A (pass in commerce). Gordon had worked as a writer since leaving Uni. His sport interests were rowing, tennis,skiing, squash and baseball and he had experience in camping and canoe trips. His hobbies were books and writing. |
After enlisting on 26 February 1941 and initial training Gordon was posted to the U.K. and arrived on 12 May 1942. He was at 3 (O) AFU on 16 June 1942, 22 OTU 7 July 1942, 420 Sqn 24 September 1942, and 102 Squadron on 16 November 1942. He was killed just three weeks later. |
