Miscellaneous Information
Henry was born on 7 February 1921 at Grantham Township, Lincoln County, Ontario. His father was born in London, England and his mother in Rutherglen, Scotland. His father had been a butcher but had retired due to ill health. He attended Robertson School, 1930-1935 (General), followed by St. Catherines Collegiate 1935-1940. For sport he enjoyed basketball, swimming and volleyball. Between 1937-1939, Henry worked as a clerk on Saturdays, at Muir's Shoe Store. He then worked at the Morse company in Toronto as a collector of money until enlistment on 20 December 1940. |
After embarking from Canada on 8 January 1942 bound for the U.K., Henry arrived at 3 PRC on 21 January 1942. He then went to 3 (0) AFU on 14 April 1942, 22 OTU 26 May, 1942, 10 Conversion Flt. 28 August 1942 and 419 Squadron, 30 August 1942. |
