Miscellaneous Information
Henry was born at Edmonton, Alberta on 3 July 1924. His father, the manager of a mortgage company, was born In Norwich , Norfolk, and his mother was born in London, England. He had one brother, William who was in the Canadian Army 0verseas, and also four sisters: Sarah, Mary, Jane and Martha. The schools he attended were Woodhaven, Winnipeg 1929-1937 (grade 8) and St.Paul’s College, 1937-40 (grade 9). The only sport Henry played was tennis. He was in the Winnipeg Rifle Reserves. Henry worked as a Bank Clerk in the Royal Bank of Canada from 1940 until enlisting on 12 October 1942. |
After completing his training he embarked for the U.K. on 22 October 1943, arriving at 3 PRC on 31 October 1943. He was then at 1(0)AFU 18 January 1944, 2(0)AFU 8 February 1944. 22 OTU 21 March 1944, 61 Base 11 June 1944, and 433 Squadron 14 July 1944. Henry sadly lost his life the following month on 17 August 1944. |
