| Born 2 November 1919 in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Brother of Nancy Diana Gladwin (born 1916). |
| His Father, Harold, worked as an Engineer. He and Gwendolyn married in Pembrokeshire in January 1916 (where Nancy was born in December), lived in Newcastle-upon-Tyne into the 1930's but by 1939 the family are living in Borehamwood. |
| Kenneth worked as a Sound Engineer before the war whilst training as a Sergeant Pilot in the Volunteer Reserve on alternate weekends. |
